The SEO Strategy That Still Works For Me

by | Jul 1, 2013 | Traffic

In a previous blog post, I discussed a case study I did where I promoted an affiliate product that still makes sales for me today. I talked a little bit about my traffic strategy to generate perpetual traffic to the page but I didn’t feel like I went in-depth enough…

I busted out a little notepad and mapped out the traffic strategy that I used. After mapping it out, it still looked like a bit of a spagetti bowl. I decided to make this video to give a bit better of an explanation of my traffic strategy.

Enjoy the video:

Some of you may be skeptical about this strategy and some of you may actually try it. All I know is that this exact process worked amazingly for me and I’ve used it over and over again since with the same results and with very competitive keywords.

Give it a look and let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

    Hi Matt,

Thanks for the video, really enjoyed it.

I noticed you avoid reciprocal links. If I pointed Youtube videos to a specific blog page on my site would I be better to embed the videos on my blog page using Youtube or another video provider such as Vimeo so the reciprocal link is broken? (ie. I have links pointing to my blog page from Youtube to get the link juice but not pointing back to Youtube)

      Hey Rob,

If I put a video on YouTube, I’ll just use that YouTube embed code everywhere. I don’t believe the YouTube video counts as a “Do Follow” reciprocal link. It’s never been an issue.

One of the most concise and informative videos I’ve seen on SEO! It isn’t confusing at all! You made it very to the point, no bs, and your diagram is great! Thanks again! Looking forward to implementing your strategy!

Fantastic video Matt, I found the kindle idea brilliant, as its a great way to get traffic, build up a reputation and also earn some moola in the process, this is something I will be adding next to my traffic system.

      Hi Donny,

Creating books on Kindle has been one of the single best things I’ve done for my business and my credibility. It’s been a great source of leads to my site and it’s also boosted my status as a WordPress expert. It’s hard work but it’s worth it in the end!

    Couple of questions.
    1) If I’m understanding you correctly, I should be using wordpress.com along with my wordpress.org?
    2) Is the content on your tumblr, blogger etc the same or different?

      Hey

      1) Yes. My main money sites are always on a self-hosted WordPress.org site. I user WordPress.com sites for backlinks.

      2) Use different content at all places. You can embed the same YouTube videos all over though. So, when you upload a YouTube video, embed it on all of your sites. Create quick unique content for all sites though (or outsource it).

I needed this! I just started blogging after watching the NeuCopia private training and I had made the mistake of having everything lead right back to the other page. I will be changing that asap! Keep up the great training! 🙂

Absolutely Krystal. That can get you in big trouble with the search engines actually. They have what’s called the over-optimization penalty now. Too many unnatural looking links back to your site can really hurt your site.

Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the comment.

    Hi Matt,

I’m beginning to feel like I know you. I’ve watched three videos with you as the instructor. This one was a bit over my head. I picked up a few things but I think I need more basic instruction before I understand what you were getting at. I plan to check out Live Journal, Tumbler, Blogger, and Face Book Blog Promote so that I know what you are talking about, then I will watch this video again. I’ll leave another comment after I learn more.

Awesome Darcy. Thanks for the feedback. Have you gone through any of the basic training in the members area? That could get you pointed in the right direction as well.

      I really appreciate the comment!

On your SEO Strategy – with the article posting wheel – when do you post to the 4 places? One to each site (wordpress.com; live journal.com; tumber; blogger) per week – so 4 articles per week. Or just one article per week to one of the sites & another article the next week to another of the sites?

Thank you… being new somewhat – yet have learned much in 90 days. Too many actors, liars..learning WordPress and how to blog…

Am creating a web site with a great host…will load the html text, videos, images to my site (money page) and will direct the authority issues to my blog area…your diagram is very helpful….for this newbie…that’s all I needed was to drive traffic to my “high end” site. The principal has given me all the tools…a well known top 20 Gold – Silver IRA Rollover….a high end site….traffic is what is needed…thanks again….I understand. By the way…after 43 years in the Int’l Transport biz..I have retired…so I do need residual income…and a means to create wisely. Thanks for the wisdom.

    I’ll review…as I bookmarked this SEO Strategy

I found this very hard to follow. I am a visual learner. If I see it, I get it. If you ask me to reach in my brain and conceptualize it…well…it will take longer. Can you provide links to some of these sites so we can see real examples? Could you provide a clearer drawing (maybe typed out)?

hi matt, how long did it take you to implement all of those strategies for this one site and how soon did it make a profit? also, on each of those authority sites you mentioned how many blog posts did you have compared to the blog posts on the main website. i’m assuming they all contained similar but different content as to not get slapped by google. thanks!
